Success Starts with Stability: Meeting Student Needs for Academic Growth - By Caitlin Davidson In-Person / Online
At Bakersfield College, we recognize that academic success is deeply connected to a student’s well-being outside the classroom. Many of our students face barriers such as food insecurity, housing instability, transportation challenges, and limited access to technology, all of which can have a profound impact on their ability to succeed in college.
In this workshop, you will learn how the Basic Needs Program is addressing these challenges. We will walk through how to recognize signs of basic needs insecurity in your classroom and explore the wide range of support services available to students. You will leave equipped with practical tools to support students holistically and help them thrive both in and out of the classroom.
BC is committed to providing services, programs and events that are open and welcoming to all. Reasonable Accommodations and sign language interpreters are available on request. Registering early for professional development workshops and requesting accommodations 3-5 days in advance will help us provide seamless access.
