Canvas Basics - Presented by Jon Farmer In-Person / Online

This workshop is designed to provide instructors with a foundational understanding of Canvas and its essential features, empowering them to effectively utilize this powerful platform in their teaching and administrative roles.

Throughout this workshop, participants will embark on a comprehensive journey through the fundamental aspects of Canvas LMS, covering key functionalities and best practices tailored to BC. Through a combination of interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities, and collaborative discussions, attendees will gain practical insights into:

Navigating the Canvas Interface: Participants will familiarize themselves with the Canvas dashboard, navigation menu, and course structure, learning how to efficiently navigate the platform to access course materials, announcements, and assignments.
Creating Course Content: Attendees will explore the process of building course content within Canvas, including creating pages, modules, assignments, discussions, and quizzes. Practical tips for organizing content and fostering engagement will be shared.
Communicating with Students: The workshop will cover strategies for effective communication with students using Canvas, including sending announcements, messages, and feedback. Participants will learn how to facilitate discussions and collaborate with students within the platform.

Note: This is a hands-on workshop. While some laptops will be available, you are encouraged to bring your own laptop if attending the in-person session.
